how i met my husband. part three.

hey remember when i started this back in JULY?! well, i figure since tomorrow is our three year wedding anniversary i should probably find the time to finish this sweet story!

if you are tuning in for the first time {which you probably are since its been ages since i last wrote about this.} you can catch up on part one and part two.

so, last time we talked about this, i left off with him making me a picture of my dream field. that sunday, he invited me to church to watch his band play, and we spent a good chunk of the day together hanging out with his friends and me awkwardly feeling like uncomfortable around all these people who actually knew nick. before i left that day he asked me to plan our next date. & i said yes. i was scared out of my mind.

i asked practially all of my co workers for ideas, and one of them suggested that i take nick to the art muesum. brillant! at least i thought it would be. i was terribly wrong. we got there, and almost everything in the entire place was under construction. literally, we could barely go anywhere and everything that we could look at was ugly.
case and point. this was some crazy thing made with wadded up paper mache.
we left that place and i thought i had ruined EVERYTHING. i picked a really lame place and had no back up plan. lucky for me there is a park near that museum so we took a walk and sat on a bench, and talked. a lot. about everything. we call this date our 'falling in love' date because thats what we did on that bench. he told me all about his life, and i told him all about mine. we layed it all on the table because neither of us wanted to date just to date. we both had been hurt, and we wanted to only continue a relationship if we thought it might get more serious. it was the best afternoon turned evening of my life.

we walked to a Chinese restaurant {which is now an adorable cupcake place} and ate and fell more in love.
dinner and a flower
we spent the next 3 months getting to know each other, and falling in love. by novemeber he had decided to ask me to be his wife and the rest is history. :)

i'm so thankful that Jesus has given me this gift of a wonderful husband, and i am looking forward to celebrating 3 years of marriage with him tomorrow!

snow in seattle

it finally decided to snow in seattle this weekend.
this was maggie's first snowfall.
well, thats not true.
it was the first one that she could participate in.

it started snowing at church and then we went out to lunch with some friends, as we ate the snow decided to stick and come down more and more. it was so fun.

my sweet friend heidi snapped this sweet photo of us. its pretty much my favorite.

honestly, i dont really love the snow.
unless it is sticking like crazy and piles up.
otherwise i find it annoying.

mags loved it.
she kept signing 'more' over and over.
i love that little bug.
she had some fun sticking her tounge out to 'eat the snow'

daddy helped her make a little snowman & we tossed some snowballs at her. she was full of giggles and wonder.
although, as you can see in the bottom left photo, she did not want to walk very much in the strange fluffy white stuff on the ground. when we finally did get her to walk in it she didnt want to stop and cried when we had to take her inside.

after our snow adventure, we came inside and snuggled on the couch, ate chocolate chip cookies and built a blanket fort.

i would say it was a pretty great first snow day for this little family.

thankful

i know that i am a day late.
but i am still thankful.

right now i am siting awake at my parents house suffering from a severe case of insomnia along with christmas morning excitement to go shopping in just about 2 hours. i think i have slept for about 2 hours. but honestly, who can sleep in a bed with your husband and your crazy 1 year old who needs a jet engine fan blowing to sleep & who sleeps at an angle taking up at least half of the bed? {not me.}
but i am not complaining. i actually am 100% ok with this no sleep thing tonight. or last night. or whatever.

i am so thankful for my little family and all the blessings we have been given.
i am thankful for:

my husband. he loves and serves me every.single.day. he is such a huge blessing to me and i am so thankful that Jesus saw it fit for us to be married.

my daughter. she is full of joy, she gives us such joy, she is a constant reminder that i need my savior & being her mama has sanctified me in so many ways.

my family. i loved having our non traditonal, crazy loud, thanksgiving dinner. sometimes having a large, loud family can be overwhelming, but i wouldnt change it for anything.

my Jesus. oh, he is the thing i am most thankful for. without him i am nothing. he is my strength, & it is only by his grace that i can do this life.

my friends. i know i am not as good as a friend sometimes as i should be. i am working on it. but i really have the best friends. i am so thankful i get to walk through life with them.

this blog. i have been terrible at blogging lately, but i am still so thankful for this little space of mine. it has been an amazing year since i really got 'serious' about blogging, and i have met some amazing ladies, shared deep parts of my heart, & found something to do that makes me feel more like me.

being a stay at home mama. i really am thankful for this one. it is something that i never thought would work & through my entire pregnancy i never imagined i would be at home with my lady. i am thankful that the LORD provides and for my husband who works hard to make this dream possible. i do not take it for granted. at all.

i am thankful for so many other things, but it is nearing 2:30am and i should try to maybe get another half hour of sleep... or just go wake up my mama like i used to on Christmas day. hmmmm...

happy thanksgiving friends. i am thankful for you.

a thankful heart, is a happy heart.

earlier this year, i was inspired by my sweet friend, megan. she started a jar of blessings (you can read about it here)
i wanted so badly to follow with her and do it every single day, but i never did. so, i thought that we would do our own little twist on this great idea. i know this is not the first time that you have heard of this, but it has been so helpful in cultivating a heart of thankfulness instead of comparison or ungratefulness. {is that a word?!}

we started a thankful jar.

each day for the month of november, nick and i are writing down something we are thankful for. my plan is to start doing this everyday for the whole year {give or take} and have them to read on thanksgiving.

i have found already, that i spend more time thinking about what i am thankful for and less time wishing i had things that i dont. i am really excited about this jar and what it means for our family. i am really looking forward to reading these on thanksgiving day.

we were using just plain old sticky notes to write on & then i found this awesome free printable

 so i printed that cute little thing out and we write our thanks on something really darling. {which is something i am thankful for...}

how do you guys keep track of things that you are thankful for?

the eighth of novemeber

three years ago a sweet shaggy haired, bearded man picked me up.
he brought flowers.
he took me out to breakfast.
he bought me coffee.
he took me shopping.
he bought me a dress.
he took me hiking.
he asked me a question.
he gave me a ring.
and i said,"yes."
he prayed with me.
he called me his fiance.
he took me out to dinner.
he took me home.
he updated his facebook status.
he changed my life.

i love the 8 of novemeber.
and i love that man.

11.08.08

and every year on this day (or a few days before)
to celebrate he takes me on a date and buys me a new dress.
i love this little tradition.
not just because i get a new dress,
but because it is something that my sweet husband decided to do.

i love this man & i feel so blessed to be his wife.

pumpkin carving & halloween 2011

i was going to write a really cute post on our pumpkin carving.
and then i was going to write an even cuter post on how i made my little girls costume. and after that a cute post about all our halloween fun.

but honestly, i have been to busy soaking in all the wonderful time that i can with my husband and little girl. so, i am going to just post a ton of pictures and then i hope to get back to regular blogging tomorrow.

oh, and another thing, thanks for being such great readers... i feel like i have not had the chance to get to know many of you and i would love to change that, but i am so thankful for those of you who have followed along and stuck out these past few months of little to no blogging. i promise, i am back.

enjoy a peek into our little october!

on the farm

over the weekend we took miss maggie to a farm.
it was so much fun to go somewhere and do something as
our little family of 3.

nick and i loved watching maggie see animals {like this pig} for the first time.
we are blown away at how big our girl has become and that she is no longer a baby, but has pretty much reached toddlerhood.

she is walking around pretty good these days.
and singing and talking a lot.
it's crazy to think that last year at this time, we were still wondering what birth was going to be like, and who this little lady would look like.

the little farm that we went to was right on the river, so we took her down to see a river { and she totally didnt care... she just wanted to play in the water.} they had a sweet little 'secret garden' area that i would have loved to have some family pictures taken at.

tonight, we are starting our first fall family traditon. apple cider, soup and pumpkin carving {and maybe some candy corn...}

i am really enjoying my little family. what are some of your fall traditions?

ps. i am working on a really fun giveaway, email me if you are interested in donating something!

updating.

oh hello.
i confess : i have been a terribly awful blogger this month.
but really, i felt like the only things that i could blog about would be silly things that i dont think anyone wants to read about. like what i did on an ordinary monday, or what i bought at trader joes last week. or the newest thing i pinned on pinterest. i have hardly taken a photo this month, so i dont even have that to share with you.

it has not even been a busy or a hard month. i dont know what happened. so, dear readers, i am sorry.
recently i have really been enjoying my little family. more than ever. our pearl is so fun. she is goofy and silly and i love her.
we have also been going through redemption group at our church and have been learning so so much. i want to spend time talking about it, i want to blog about what i am learning, but i for some reason can not adequetly say all the things. i am praying for Jesus to give me the words to share all the amazing things that i am learning, but right now i dont have them. so, be on the lookout because sometime in the near future i will have a whole lot of goodness to share with you. i can say that this has been the most amazing time of learning with the Lord. He has been teaching me so much.

maggie girl started to say "mama" last weekend and she spent the entire week crawling around saying, "mama mama mama". it was so sweet. this weekend she learned how to say " dada" and now that is all she says. its sweet, and its amazing how quickly she is learning these days. she is in love with her 'babies'

{snow white, mr who & 'baby'}
i love watching my lady baby turn into a little lady. she is such a girl and it is such a sweet blessing to be a part of.

i hope to be back tomorrow.
