a someday grandma.

this weekend something really special is happening. my grandma had 8 children (amazing!) and raised them basically by herself (even more amazing!) she had 4 girls and 4 boys. she has something like 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. only 2 of her daughters also had daughters, and i am one of those grandaughters, who had a daughter and now maggie pearl is a 4 generation lady! so, this weekend we are getting a lovely photo taken of my grandma (gg) my mama, (gma) myself, and miss maggie. gg is really excited about it and it made me think about how crazy it must be to be her. how exciting to see your daughter have a daughter and have that little girl have her own little lady baby. i can not imagine. i really love my grandma. she is amazing. i am so looking forward to sharing our generation photo with you all soon, as well as the one that they took when i was born. its a really sweet legacy from the LORD. so all of this had me thinking and its pretty neat how todays project31 topic goes along perfectly.
day twenty six
Day 26.  What do you hope your grandchildren will say about you someday when you are gone?
i really look forward to being a grandma. i think its one of the exciting things about being a mama is that someday i might get to be a grandma. if you know me, you know i basically dream about being a grandma all the time. i love big cozy grandma sweaters, i want to live in a house that looks like a grandma would live there, i adore floral prints and quilts. (and that is just the beginning! one of the names i loved for margaret pearl was eleanor jane, but my husband said that if we named her that she would need to be born 80 years old.) back on topic, the first thing i want my grandchildren to say about me is that they could see how much i loved Jesus and lived my life according to his story, not my own. after that i want them to remember the marriage that their grandfather and i had. i want to build a marriage to be an example for our children and our childrens children. i want to be a family legacy by the grace of God. i want them to know that tradition and family are important to me and to carry some of those on to their own families. i want them to say that i was generous and thought of others more highly than myself. i want them to see Jesus shining through my life. nothing else is important.

  1. oh my... this one made me cry. I miss my Grandmas so much. I don't have any living Grandparents anymore, but Jason's 2 Grandmas are still alive and are pretty amazing women. I've adopted them as completely mine :)

My Mom's Mom died of Ovarian cancer when I was only 3 years old. She was pretty fabulous. My Dad's Mom lived until I was 19, so I had many fu years with her. Grandmas are so important, I think. I see the way my Mom interacts with my kids and so badly wish we could still live close to her, because I see how special that relationship is to her and my kids. With todays' technology, I'm glad they can see her on the computer and chat over the phone as often as they want.
