five years.

i meant to write this last week. and the week before.
but you know me and my awesome blogging skills.

On March 21, Nick and I celebrated 5 years of marriage. 5 years of laughing and singing and dancing and goofing around. 5 years of arguing, fighting, growing, stretching and changing. its not always been easy or fun, but it has always always been worth it.

marriage is a funny thing.
you think you know what its going to be like before you are married, but then after you suddenly find yourself not know what the heck you got yourself into.
its amazing. its fun. and it hurts like nothing else you have ever experienced.

i am really big on milestones (like i talked about in my last post) and this was one milestone i was really excited about.
5 years.
five glorious, grace filled years.
each year holds something so huge and beautiful in it.

this year i wanted to celebrate in a big way. back when we were newlyweds, i used to think that at 5 years we would have a vow renewal and i would get a fancy addition to my already fancy and amazing wedding ring - but truth be told, neither of those two things are necessary or in the budget these days. (hopefully for our 10 year!)
instead of all that fancy - we were given an even greater gift!

my girl, Candice from Ivy and Tweed Photography, spent the morning with us about a month ago and took some absolutely stunning Anniversary photos of us. its by far my favorite thing and I know we will treasure them for years and years to come.
She so perfectly captured the way Nick makes me giggle and snuggle into his chest, and the fun that we have together, and the way that we still look at eachother like we are still falling in love.
which is a huge gift, because this marriage business is not easy and there were years that i didnt think we would still be falling in love at the 5 year mark.

i am beyond excited to share them with you (although if you follow me on any other form of social media, you have probably already seen most of them!) If you are looking for a photographer for your special occasion, or for portraits - contact Candice. Not only will she give you high quality photos, She will laugh with you, make you feel comfortable in front of the camera and you will leave feeling like you just made a new best friend. She is amazing, and does amazing work. you can see the blog post she did on us here.

i have much more to say about marriage, about the redemption that i have seen Jesus do in each of our lives that has worked itself out into marriage, but i'll save that for another time. i am praising the Lord for a husband who fears Him and who fights for my heart. So thankful to have these beautiful images as something to reflect the last 5 years. my heart is happy.

xoxo,
Ally
